National Law Enforcement Channel (NLEC): The emergency radio frequency utilized by all law enforcement agencies.
Non-Contact Visit: A visit between an offender and visitor, conducted in a special room, or otherwise with a barrier between them, for the purpose of preventing any physical contact.
Non-Lethal Force: Force which does not normally cause death or serious bodily injury.
Non-State Facility: A facility that is not owned or operated by the DOC but has a contract to house offenders, such as privately run prisons and community corrections programs.
Non-Violent Offender: Due to certain statutory mandates and restrictions, an offender may be deemed non-violent for one purpose and not another. As an example, an offender might be labeled as violent for purposes of community placement referral and not referred until six months or less remaining to parole eligibility. The same offender, for purposes of time computation; however, might be viewed as non-violent.
